What we’re about
Hello! I'm James.
I'm building a kind & supportive community with lived experience of mental health issues, running events to help manage & improve mental health (such as 'mindful walking').
This group is aimed at people who have attended an NHS recovery college course in the past (and are looking for the same kind of calm, welcoming and non-judgemental environment), but everyone is welcome. 🙂
Whether it's anxiety, or depression, or more complex conditions - research shows building social connections, getting exercise and being more mindful of, and engaged in, the world around you can help.
Events support the ideas behind 'Five Ways to Wellbeing' (e.g. mindful walking). They will always be free, and are open to adults of all ages and backgrounds - the only requirement is kindness and respect.
Looking forward to seeing you!

What are the Five Ways to Wellbeing?
The "Five Ways to Wellbeing" was researched and developed by the New Economics Foundation for the Department of Health and Social Care.
The '5 ways' are often referred to as:
1. Connected - build and maintain relationships
2. Active - exercise in ways that work for you
3. Notice - take time to be present & mindful of world around you
4. Learn - stay curious and keep learnings new things.
5. Give - little acts of kindness are powerful
It's a simple framework of themes of activities proven to help positively impact mental health and is currently taught within NHS recovery colleges as one tool that can be used to manage mental health. Please see the videos for a quick overview of the framework.
