Tai Ch'i Practice

Details

Tai Chi is an ancient form of martial arts originating out of China and rooted in the Taoist principle of yin and yang. Characteristic for the tai chi form are slow and well-practiced movements and postures. These can be performed by all age groups and makes tai chi a popular low-impact exercise. Never done tai chi before? Beginners are welcome!

The practice of tai chi has proven health benefits as it increases flexibility and stamina. It is also connected with the attainment of Chi - the Chinese concept for life energy. Synchronizing the movements with the breath is an important aspect of the tai chi flow.

The most practiced tai chi is the 24-posture form. At Red Clay Sangha, the form is taught by Markus Wilms. He has over 20 years of experience and has practiced the last 5 years extensively with a Chinese teacher. His motto is: “Every teacher is a student; every student is a teacher”.

The RCS Tai Chi group meets every Tuesday at 7:30pm at the Sangha's physical location for one hour. Please RSVP if you plan to attend!
