Never been to a ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lea btw) before?
Actually, it doesn't matter how many of them you've done before, or if you've done none at all.

The person calling the dances (me
Schuggie) tells everyone what they
need to do, and keeps it going.
Everyone dances with everyone,
whether you know each other or not.

The more people the better!
Everyone gets a go. No one has the
chance to bust different moves, and because no one *really* knows what's going on & it's very difficult to feel self-conscious.

Essentially, most people are just
guessing what they're supposed to be doing, and that makes it brilliant.

There are lots of friendly folks to give you a hand and get everyone up dancing. We call these folks, Ceilidh Ninjas.

Our ceilidhs are fun, social and
inclusive/?. You will however need to bring along a sense of humour as half the fun of ceilidh dances is making mistakes.

We usually dance to recorded music (very retro*+) with all the dances being called however, we might well & have a band along - which will mean dancing to live music at no extra charge.dy?.

Ceilidhs are enjoyed by all ages - from youngsters' first Scottish dancing experience to old-timers out enjoying a
burl. People come dressed in jeans, full highland dress - and everything in between.
