Come join Pacific Spirit Park Society’s (PSPS) EcoTeam this Saturday to participate in some hands-on environmental restoration! We are continuing our work at the Acadia Forest site in Pacific Spirit Park to remove invasive species such as Himalayan blackberry and English holly and restore the forest.
Saturday November 16th, from 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Tools and gloves will be provided. Please bring sturdy boots and dress for the weather as we will be getting dirty rain or shine! Long pants are highly recommended.
Snacks and refreshments will be served half way through during our break but we ask that you bring water to stay hydrated while you are working.
There is a porta-potty on site, near the cache.

About the Site:
In 2017 & 2018, PSPS worked in another area of Acadia forest, close to Chancellor Boulevard, removing invasive plants and planting native plants. We are now working in an area located between the Fairy Shrimp site and this older restoration area. The whole area has many “aging-out” red alders on the site, several of which are dying or dead. As a result, there are quite a few dead standing or fallen alders all over this area. Before we could start working at this site, Metro Vancouver oversaw a hazard tree survey and subsequent felling of the worst hazard trees.
Although there remain some hazard trees on the site, the site is big enough so that unsafe areas can be avoided if there is wind. We will point out the areas that are best to avoid.
Thank you again to all our amazing volunteers for your hard work removing invasives and restoring the park!
