Emotional trauma can stick with you, no matter how long ago it happened.

Here are some common events that can cause lasting emotional trauma:

  • Losing a loved one or a pet
  • A tough divorce or breakup
  • Experiencing a major loss or setback
  • Sudden bad news
  • Toxic or abusive people in your life
  • Betrayal by someone you trusted

The more sudden the event, like a death, accident, or breakup, the stronger and longer-lasting the emotional impact can be.
