Let’s hike Oak Knoll in Attleboro and hopefully still sell the trolley wheels from a trolly that was sunken in the middle of the lake almost 100 years ago. Head to Briggs Pizza. I highly recommend Briggs Pizza which is 3 minutes away. They have changed their policy and no longer will do separate checks so try to bring cash. I was there with a group last week and they did allow people to use there cards but it was a little confusing. They have great pizzas and calzones.

Looking out over Lake Talaquega, it’s hard to imagine that this serene setting was once a buzzing entertainment destination, complete with a casino and hotel. We have been told there is a train in the bottom of this lake and during droughts you can see it.

Now Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary, just minutes from downtown Attleboro, offers a natural respite with wooded trails and boardwalk winding through a red maple swamp, upland forest, and freshwater marsh, and around the lake’s perimeter.

NOTE: Trail, distance and times may vary depending on conditions and the speed of the slowest hiker. We start together and stay together as a group.
