Nocturnal Owl Prowl with the Bristol Land Conservation Trust

Details

This is a paid event, payable at door only. Please bring cash or check with you, to be paid to the Bristol Land Conservation Trust.

The Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) will sponsor an Owl Prowl with Lauren Parmelee, Audubon Society of Rhode Island Senior Director of Education Programs, on Thursday, December 12.

Join the BLCT and Lauren Parmelee for an informational introduction to owls followed by a nocturnal stroll at Mount Hope Farm to look and listen for them in their natural habitat. During the fall and winter, several owl species nest in Bristol and can be heard calling to each other as they set up their territories and bond with their mates. Owls we may encounter include the Screech, Great Horned or Barred Owl. We never know what we'll hear or see, but participants will learn a lot and have a great nighttime walk.

The event, which runs from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., starts at the Mount Hope Farm barn, 250 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a flashlight. Parking is in the parking lot behind the barn, which is accessed via the main driveway. The rain/snow date is Friday, December 13.

The cash or check only fee is $15 per person, a maximum of $25 for families, and free for BLCT members. Payable at door. All proceeds go to support the BLCT's mission in preserving open space forever.
