Rome Point Preserve Trash Cleanup!
Details
Welcome, peeps! We are meeting up at the parking lot of the John H. Chaffee Rome Point Preserve for a hike, and a cleanup!
About 1/3 of a mile into a smaller trail system is a dump site from decades ago. We will be picking up trash, bagging it, and transporting it safely via wheelbarrow to a pickup site! Afterwards, we will have some snacks or coffee to reward the good work!
Meet up at the parking lot at 1344 Boston Neck Rd, North Kingstown, RI 02852, where signs will direct you to the cleanup site and route. You will have to walk about a 1/3 mile to the site.
Please bring safety gear, such as long pants and long sleeved shirts, boots, work gloves, a high visibility vest, and a hat. There is a risk that there will be ticks, poison ivy, and trip hazards, so please be aware that there is some potential injuries.
We want to thank Alan Austin and the Town of North Kingstown for organizing. And, thanks to Governor McKee and the First Lady for their support of trash cleanups in the state through their grant program. (Remember that you can organize your own trash cleanup through this grant.)
Some details: We will be helping to clean a dump site that is decades old. It is rumored that this place may have glass antique bottles that are of some value!
We are just helping to gather participants, and there are a lot of other people to thank for organizing this. But, we want to thank YOU for trying to make it!
