See all- Shenandoah Section Hike- Part 3Needs location
Come section hike the Shenandoah with us! This is Part 3 of a 7 part series of overnight section hikes. We will park at the end of hike and shuttle up to the start. Here we will start at Bootens Gap, camp overnight at Rock Springs Hut and Cabin, then end at our previous parking lot. There will be a fee to the shuttle driver(s), so that will be posted in the comments later on once the final head count has been determined. The cost will be split evenly among those going.
The overall length of this section is about 16.87 miles with 3,038 ft total elevation Gain.
Day 1: 9 miles.
Day 2: 7.9 miles.Rock Springs Hut: Shelter with space for about 10, plus a few designated tent sites around the shelter. A moldering privy is located uphill from the shelter, and a piped spring is downhill past the reservation-only Rock Spring Cabin. A bear pole is provided at the shelter.

Shuttle Fees are $20 per person which includes tip. Please send your shuttle fees via Zelle or PayPal to Debora Mahan 804-920-6340. Anyone who has not paid their shuttle fees by November 23rd will be moved to not going.
This is a backpacking trip. Make sure you have the proper gear to backpack for the season. This is a point-to-point hike. We will park at Jennings Creek parking area AT Mile 758.8 and shuttle to AT mile 772.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we will start.

Shuttle fees will be split equally between everyone going.
We will stay at the famous Bryant Ridge Shelter on the Appalachian Trail. This shelter is a towering, double-decker with space for around 20 people. Ever since I heard about this shelter I have been itching to do a backpacking trip there.
Saturday: We will meet at Jenning Creek parking area at 730am. We will shuttle to AT mile 772.5 on the Blue Ridge parkway and start our hike there.
Start AT mile marker 772.5 Backpack to the famous double decker Bryant Ridge Shelter AT mile marker 762.6. We will set up camp. Water and Privy at Shelter. Day 1 mileage 9.9 miles.Sunday: Pack up camp backpack to Jennings Creek to our vehicle AT mile marker 758.8. Day 2 mileage 3.8 miles
Total mileage for trip: 13.7 miles

Bishop events is hosting A 5K, 10K or Half Marathon at Pocahontas state park. Come join the fun at our local state park.
You can register for a 5k or 10k or half marathon. Run, Walk, a little of both pick your poison.
We will be registering for the half marathon starting at 9am. Arrival time of 8am is suggested for packet pick-up.
Whichever length you pick it should be a great time out in nature and enjoying the park.
