Shenandoah Section Hike- Part 3

Details

Come section hike the Shenandoah with us! This is Part 3 of a 7 part series of overnight section hikes. We will park at the end of hike and shuttle up to the start. Here we will start at Bootens Gap, camp overnight at Rock Springs Hut and Cabin, then end at our previous parking lot. There will be a fee to the shuttle driver(s), so that will be posted in the comments later on once the final head count has been determined. The cost will be split evenly among those going.
The overall length of this section is about 16.87 miles with 3,038 ft total elevation Gain.
Day 1: 9 miles.
Day 2: 7.9 miles.

Rock Springs Hut: Shelter with space for about 10, plus a few designated tent sites around the shelter. A moldering privy is located uphill from the shelter, and a piped spring is downhill past the reservation-only Rock Spring Cabin. A bear pole is provided at the shelter.

This is not a beginner friendly trip. Everyone must register themselves for an overnight backcountry pass in the Shenandoahs individually, as there is now a small fee. Link here: Backcountry Permit & Regulations - Shenandoah National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

This trip is cross posted with Virginia Outdoor Adventures and The James River Hikers.
