RAVEN ROCKS DAY HIKE 5.7 miles & HARPER’S FERRY TOWN ADVENTURE

1. Whoever wants to carpool can meet at the Hickory Haven Park & Ride (2031 Ashland Rd, Rockville, VA 23146) to carpool and then head over to VA Route 7, Snickers Gap (Harry Byrd Hwy Bluemont, VA 20135). Parking is scarce as this is such a popular destination so we will get an early start and carpool to help ensure we are able to secure spots in this parking lot that holds about a dozen cars.

2. We will do an out and back hike to Raven Rocks approximately 2.85 miles each way for a total of 5.7 miles with 1,535 ft in elevation gain.
   This is a moderate trail with the final viewpoint being the most magnificent. This out-and-back hike -- which some locals call "the roller-coaster" -- winds up and down several ridges, some of which are steep. When leaves have fallen, the valley peeks through in the distance. The terrain is similar to other sections of the AT in the area and there are some sections that are very rocky.
   Due to the terrain it’s recommended to wear good hiking boots to get through this great hike.You will pass over a few creeks, including raven rocks hollow on your way to the great views at the lookout. Take a few minutes to enjoy the view before you retrace your steps back to the parking area.

3. After completing the hike and capturing lots of amazing photos we will head over to Harper’s Ferry, WV to explore the town and enjoy some lunch.
