We are going to hike up to Piper Mnt and then a little further to a viewing point depending on trail conditions after Mt Piper.
You will have to read or listen to the book "The last traverse" by Ty Gagne before coming on this hike as we will talk about it on this so much easier ridge. Let's hope it is cold and snowy that day.
This will be about 6 miles and around 1200 vertical gain throughout the day. You will need to bring Micro spikes and snowshoes depending on trail conditions and will update more on comments as we get closer to the hike date.
You should wear good hiking boots, Micro spikes, warm layers and bring water, lunch or snacks.
Bring a good sense of adventure and the book stories while we explore new winter trails. There will be a quiz, :) bring a pencil your pen might freeze LOL
We will park at the end of the paved Rd of Belknap Mtn Rd in Gilford NH.
Use 790 Belknap Mountain Rd Gilford NH on your GPS if that helps. The pin on the map is the parking area. You do have to get on The Belknap Rd from Route 11A side as the other end is closed. You will go by a trail sign on the left that says Belnap trails on Carriage Road. DO NOT go that way keep on going straight and you will come to a place where you have to go left or right. Go left, trail head parking is about 1/4 mile from there on the right. Text me at 603-674-4204 for info on directions if needed. There is no cell service at the parking lot.
