As a guest, you'll have the opportunity to observe the friendly, low-pressure Toastmasters environment. Guests can choose to participate in our Table Topics segment if they desire. Guest invitations are extended to all adults, 18 years and older.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is my role as a guest? Will I be asked to speak?
After all prepared speeches, the evening’s Toastmaster will ask you to briefly introduce yourself from your seat, with your name, how you learned of Toastmasters, and what brought you to the meeting. During Table Topics, you may be invited to participate, depending upon remaining time. Your participation is entirely up to you.
How can I join Rockland Toastmasters?
Toastmasters membership is by invitation, and open to adults 18 years and older. We ask that guests attend three meetings to ensure that Toastmasters and our club will fulfill their expectations. Any of our officers can provide you with a membership application.
How much does Toastmasters cost?
Six-month club and Toastmasters International dues total $65, payable each April and October. Dues are pro-rated at $10.50 per month for anyone joining at other times. New members also pay $20 for the educational materials kit, which includes Pathways, a basic Zoom account and Yoodli . You'll also receive the monthly Toastmasters Magazine filled with tips for improving your skills.
Must members attend every meeting?
Growth as a speaker occurs through practice and participation, so Toastmasters are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible. Any member responsible for a meeting role should contact the VP Education as soon as they learn they will be absent.
