Monday WIP is a sub-group of RRWG that shares and critiques submissions. Because participating in a critique session asks members to be vulnerable, we require all participants to attend at least one meeting before joining the WIP group.

Once you've attended a meeting, you can join the WIP Participant group on Discord where we upload submissions and critiques. A more thorough explanation of WIP requirements and expectations is available once you've attended a WIP session and have decided to become a member. You can request information on getting on to Discord via a post or direct mail here in Meet up to either admin (David or Kathi).

During the meeting, submissions are critiqued in order of submission. We use a modified version of the Milford-Style Workshopping Method (http://cascadewriters.com/milford-style-workshopping/). Each person assigned to critique the piece is given a chance to give their feedback, then anyone else who would like to give feedback is given the opportunity. In the name of expediency, authors are asked to remain silent during the critiques. Authors are given time to respond after all critiques have been given. The amount of time allotted to each person will depend on the number of submissions and the number of people providing feedback.

Our Thursday meetings alternate between "Check in and Write", and "Check in and Chat".

On the first, third, and fifth (when there is a fifth) Thursday of the month, we do "Check in and Write", where we gab for about 5 minutes, spend most of the rest of the hour writing, then celebrate our progress right at the end before disconnecting.

On the second and fourth Thursday of the. month, we do "Check in and Chat", a time to socialize and check in with each other. So, pour yourself a beverage, make yourself a snack, and come hang out with us. Talk about your current project (or lack thereof), work through any pesky plot problems, bounce ideas off of the group, and generally just touch base with other writers.

If you’ve ever thought about writing poetry, or if you like writing poetry and need a kick in the pants to challenge yourself into new realms of poetry, join us.

We'll write, share, and discuss our work. We'll use exercises that are appropriate for poetry in its various forms. Mary Ann will provide prompts and facilitate the meeting.

Bring whatever you use to write with, and be ready for those creative juices to start flowing.
