Rust is a language empowering everyone to build reliable and efficient software and we want to let off this energy in the Ruhr area.
We’re open to beginners and skilled developers alike and want to shape a regional community that supports each other in working with, and learning, Rust. Whether you’re into systems programming, embedded applications, or web development, Rust’s multi-paradigm nature has something for everyone.

Main Talk: k23 - A secure next-generation OS through WASM
In this talk, Jonas will cover the ideas and implementation decisions behind k23, an OS designed to drastically improve security, efficiency and developer experience. Entirely written in Rust and with an integrated WASM Just-In-Time Compiler, k23 offers a fresh look on OS design using modern technologies.
This talk is ideal for developers interested in system-level Rust, operating systems, and compilers.

Presenter: Jonas Kruckenberg
Jonas is passionate about benevolent software, Open-Source, and Cybersecurity. So far his journey led him to work on optimizing websites using Vite, local first software, peer-to-peer networking, verifiable computation, extensible software and now cross-platform native apps. Aside from programming, he sings in several classical ensembles (talk to him if you love music!) and loves hiking.
