You are invited....

Our Richmond, VA (RVA) Dances of Universal Peace Circle is meeting in person on the 2nd Saturdays of each month, 6:30 - 8:15 pm at Living Water Community Center (details below). We welcome you to join us and invite friends! Please arrive a few minutes early, to settle into the space. This allows us to start on time (or close to it) at 6:30 pm. Thank you!

We're so excited to share these moving interfaith embodied prayers with you at Living Water Community Center (1000 Westover Hills Blvd. Richmond, VA in the chapel/community room). The LWCC is in the old Westover Hills Baptist Church building. Drive past the main church building and you'll see the building that houses the yoga studio, chapel/community room and other spaces on the right, with its own parking lot and a separate ground floor entrance. After parking, walk past the outside stairs that lead to the 2nd floor, to where the building indents, and enter the double doors on that side of the building.

A few logistical things:

  • If you feel safer wearing a mask, please do wear one. We will have a few on hand, along with hand sanitizer in case you would like to use either.
  • If you are not feeling well or have been exposed to anyone who is or was symptomatic during the past week, please stay home and take good care of yourself and don't risk infecting others. There are lots of viruses floating around.
  • Please bring your water bottle. There's a water fountain near our room where you can refill from.

These events are by donations of appreciation that are shared by Living Water Community Center (LWCC) and RVA Dances of Universal Peace. If you want to give a donation, you can either bring cash with you or you can donate via one of the following electronic means or make out a check to "Donna Bain" and I'll be sure to share with LWCC. Digital options: Paypal (@HayatDB), Cash app ($HayatDB), or Venmo (@HayatDonnaBain)

For the time being we are not sharing snacks after the dance circle. We're just keeping it simple for now. However, Bari and I are open to sometimes having dinner or a snack out afterward with those who would like to do that!

Look for and join our RVA Dances of Universal Peace Community Facebook group, if you aren't a member yet.

The Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) are moving meditations in which we cultivate the vibration of peace and acceptance within ourselves and in our world through sacred chant, song, and live music from all the world's wisdom traditions. This is not dance as performance; it is a practice of embodying qualities like peace, unconditional love, unity, forgiveness, and joy. There is no audience and there are no performers. We share a deepening experience together through movement and song, celebrating Life's great mystery. We touch the Divine within ourselves and witness it in others.

Each dance is taught step-by-step and phrase-by-phrase and everyone is welcome! Newcomers and experienced dancers alike learn and move together. If you can talk, you can sing these chants and songs from all the world’s wisdom traditions. If you can walk, you can move with us in these dances.
