What we’re about
Come one and all! The Sacramento Wheelmen is a recreational road cycling club focused on getting fit, staying fit, having fun, and enjoying the company of fellow cyclists! We have group rides many days of the week - please join us!
We typically have two or more route options so riders of multiple levels are welcomed and challenged. Routes typically vary from 35 to 65 miles, with climbing as per the ride location. A coffee stop with a regroup is usually included and sometimes an after-ride gathering.
We love having guests and converting guests to Official Club Members! Official Club Members have access to coveted cycling adventures and trips that are not otherwise available. Think Napa, Guerneville, Mt. Shasta, Oregon, Europe, and beyond! If you are not an Official Club Member then you are required to sign a waiver before every ride. Out of respect for the organization (and so you don't have to sign the waiver every time), please consider joining the Sacramento Wheelmen Club after 5 guest rides - go here to become an official "Wheelie": https://sacwheelmen.wildapricot.org/ Join us to have the ride of your life!

- Tom's Hecka Hills - 9:30 AM Start in IoneIone Plaza Market, Ione, CA
Description: This 47.43 mile ride could be a shock to the system for the unprepared. Ram's Horn is a famous local route that does not disappoint. Be there to show 'em who's boss!
At the start location in Ione, please don’t park in the preferred parking for Ione Plaza Market. It’s a big parking lot. We’re avoiding the Park and Ride lot to hold on to our catalytic converters.
This route goes out and returns on Sutter Ione Road. On the way out, we will regroup at the public bathrooms in Sutter Creek (mile 10). Then it’s off to Volcano (mile 22). We’re stopping there: food, water, shade. Then it’s up Ram’s Horn Grade to Daffodil Hill where we regroup again. I’d like to say it’s all downhill from here, but that would be a lie. However, it’s a lot of downhill from here. A lot. We turn back towards Ione by taking Shake Ridge Road to Sutter Creek (mile 38). If you’re feeling weak/hungry/thirsty, you may want to stop again.
Back at the start, the deli inside Ione Plaza Market puts out a good sandwich, if you’re interested.
Elevation: 4,457 feet
