Wintery Favorites and Grand Ballroom Music in the Art Museum Sculpture Hall

Another holiday concert at the St. Louis Art Museum. This event is on the Friday AFTER Christmas.

This concert will feature the Confluence Chamber Orchestra, which is a somewhat smaller, strings only orchestra. Equally of interest, this performance will be held inside the marble Sculpture Hall in the grand entrance hall of the museum, giving a spectacular resonance to this wealth of strings playing from the classical repertoire associated with holiday time.

The concert is entitled Shall We Dance as the playlist includes some of the most recognizable and elegant waltzes in classical music. There will be chairs for those who want to sit and listen and space to dance for those who can’t resist!

In addition to Christmas tunes, the selections for the concert include:

• Strauss: The Artist’s Life, Roses from the South and Radetsky March
• Anderson: Sleigh Ride
• Ballard & Silvestri: Believe
• Tchaikovsky: Waltz of the Flowers and Sleeping Beauty Waltz
• Vivaldi: Winter Concerto
• Vaughn-Williams: Fantasia on Greensleeves
• Rodgers & Hammerstein: Shall We Dance
• Shostakovich: Waltz for Variety Orchestra
• Piazzola: Libertango

Let's meetup in the entrance hall of the art museum before 6:00. It's unclear how early we will be able to capture our seats for the concert that starts at 6:30.

This concert is part of a larger day of events at the Art Museum's 'Festive Friday' that includes free admission to the Art Museum, free access to the main and special exhibitions and to other scheduled programming during the day. (There may be a free SLAM Social before the concert in the Sculpture Hall with drinks and snacks from a cash bar.) Regardless there is a Museum Café with a food and drink menu that is open all day before the concert.

There are free parking lots across from the art museum on either side of the main entrance. And there is a large paid underground lot connected to the museum ($10).
