For November we will be reading The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger.
It has been suggested that we post our upcoming books in advance so that people can read ahead or use the library--December: The Awakening, Kate Chopin, January: Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky, February: Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen, March: The Phantom of the Opera, Gaston Leroux.
We'll meet at Merriam Park library in Saint Paul at 1:30 pm in Meeting Room A in the lower level of the library. (No more Zoom.)
For public transit users: Merriam Park library is a few blocks away from the Metro Green Line train at Fairview & University (Note: there is a steep hill if you walk along Fairview). It's also directly on the Metro 21 bus line.
No food in the meeting room, so please plan to eat beforehand.
Bring questions, notes, and friends. Reading sections of the book aloud is encouraged! We have unstructured but lively conversation for about an hour and wrap by choosing the next 2 books .
Don't feel like you need to have finished the book to attend -- new faces, ideas, and opinions are welcome, regardless of how much you've read! Feel free to message with any questions before the date.
I look forward to conversing with you all! Happy reading.
Please note that we are always interested in suggestions and we base our readings on what we hear from you.
