What we’re about

This is a fun group of Euchre Players who've come together and are having a great time playing cards in the Tap Room at Pinellas Ale Works (https://www.pawbeer.com/on-tap-now/) every Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m.!

EUCHRE TOURNAMENT CONCEPT
Each euchre player will score with a partner each of 5 rounds or games (8 hands or deals to a game with each player dealing twice), partners change after each game. The tournament is not played as teams, given changing partners but scores are kept individually by each player. Individual score sheets are provided. Along with each deal or game score, please note partner's name for each round in the space provided on the score sheet. Score sheets are turned in at the end of the tournament. It's actually super easy to use these score sheets. If you have any questions about scoring, please ask one of the other players or organizers. When you sign up on the meetup site, you are assigned a random roster number. This number determines what table you start at (table #1=1-4, #2 5-8, etc.) and also who your partner will be... Odds vs. Evens. To start a game, one player deals each player 1 card at a time until the first black jack is dealt. The player who gets the first black jack begins the deal rotation. The cards are dealt clockwise, to the left, beginning with the player to the left of the dealer. Each player receives five cards. The dealer may give a round of three at a time, then a round of two at a time, or may give two, then three; but the dealer must adhere to whichever distribution plan he begins with. After the first deal, the deal passes to the player on the dealer's left.

We play standard Euchre and trick bidding to include "stick the dealer". Players must play the hand they are dealt... no throwing in your hand for any reason.

If the number of players dictates use of a Ghost Player, the Ghost Player's partner AND opponents for that round get a minimum of 7 points (they can earn more, but at least get the 7). Likewise, if the number of players dictates that players must sit out, those sitting out will be awarded 7 points for that round. Who sits out initially is determined by who ends up with the highest roster number. After sitting out, the player(s) will play back in at table #1. Players sitting at the last table who lose their game, can cut cards to determine who sits out the following game (applicable when only one player is sitting out). When two players are sitting out, both players on the losing team from the last table will sit out the following game. Please please please continue to use the meetup site to sign up and also to cancel if your plans change as it really makes planning each evening go a little bit easier.

$3 entrance fee plus $0.25 euchre fine... $2.60 of the $3 goes to prize money for high score winners while $0.40 goes to cover cost of playing cards, score sheet materials, and meetup site fees. Euchre fines will be awarded based on a random drawing each night. The players roster number will be the number they should be rooting for on that draw.

Loner bag - Each time a Euchre Player attempts a loner (successful or not), they have the option of putting $1 in the loner bag and getting a raffle ticket in return (Chuck Hayden or Diane Carland will coordinate collecting the money, passing out raffle tickets, and holding the raffle. The person coordinating the loner bag for that evening will not be playing for the loner bag contents). Players are welcome to play for the loner bag UP TO as many times as they attempt a loner. Players are not obligated to enter each time they go for a loner but doing so will increase one's chance to win the loner bag contents... loner bag participation is voluntary. If the loner bag contents are $49.00 or less, then only one winner will be drawn... $50 or more, then two winners will be drawn and they will split the loner bag money. The loner bag drawing will be held after the last game of the evening ends.

Scores tallied, winners announced, and cash prizes awarded in accordance with how many Euchre players played that evening:
6 or fewer players Winner take all - 100%

7-10 players 1st place - 60%, 2nd place - 40%

11-14 players 1st place - 50%, 2nd place - 30%, 3rd place - 20%

15 or more players 1st place - 50%, 2nd place - 25%, 3rd place - 15%, 4th place - 10%

Low score gets $2.50 back.

Except the $0.40 per player administration fee, ALL monies collected for entrance fees, loner bag, and Euchre fines are awarded back to the players.

All Euchre fine money will be awarded in a random drawing held each night. Your player number for that night will be the number you'll be rooting for on that drawing.
Join this group and come out and play Euchre with us every Tuesday night month, 6:45 p.m. at Pinellas Ale Works!

PS... If you've previously signed up to play but your situation changes, please use the meetup site to cancel. Persistent "No shows" will be removed from the group.
