Tailgate Tavern Sunday Open Mic

Join our acoustic open mic at South Salt Lake's friendliest neighborhood watering hole. Cheap drinks and delicious sandwiches.

We provide two mics and two instrument cables. You bring your best tunes. Sign up at 6:30. Music at 7. No cover. 21+. Come play, or just listen and hang out. Cover and originals allowed!

OPEN MIC EXPECTATIONS FOR PERFORMERS:

We hope you can join us. Please read the expectations below before you sign up:

1. SET UP/PLAY WITHIN YOUR ALLOTTED TIME:
2. Sets are 3 songs (15 min. maximum.) Host may extend sets as needed.
3. Use the two mics, two instrument cables, and speakers provided. If you have other equipment, host may or may not be able to accommodate you depending on set-up time required.
4. Tune and be ready to go when it is your turn.
5. Due to past problems, the host will not lend his guitar.
6. No full drum kits. This is an acoustic open mic. Hand percussion is allowed.
7. We don’t provide backing tracks, equipment for playing backing tracks, or house musicians who play songs that you want to sing. Provide your own accompaniment.
8. CONSIDER YOUR AUDIENCE:
9. We aren’t limited to specific genres, but the overall “vibe” is folk, blues, country, soul, pop, etc. Covers and originals are allowed.
10. Spoken word performances are allowed, but it might be hard to get the audience's attention.
11. If you play music that involves loud screaming, is long and repetitive, has lyrics that might be offensive to a reasonable person, or is noisy and “alternative,” please find an open mic that caters to your style and community.
12. Host will not let you play if you are too intoxicated.
13. Avoid political speeches or religious preaching.
14. This is not a listening room, so patrons will visit with friends, etc. during your performance.
15. RESPECT OTHER PERFORMERS:
16. Refrain from jamming along with performers unless they invite you on stage. Don’t play loud audio or music on your phone during performances.
