Welcome to Salut! Dallas. This is a book club for language learning beginners. We will be reading French and English books such as Gatsby Le Magnifique (The Great Gatsby) with both language's translations side-by-side on the same pages. Apart from reading, there will also be opportunities to practice French-speaking.
Why Books?
The best way for beginners to prepare for conversations is by studying back and forth dialogs.
Books are one of the best ways to study dialogs because the words can be read at your own pace. There is more will power to pause, "rewind" and think about the words than videos and podcasts. Most importantly, you can easily compare phrases on different pages to better understand the subtle nuances that people use in choosing their words and reactions.
The group will meet in person on Sunday evenings at the North Park Center mall, but the group is not limited to only in person meetings.
Anyone, anywhere , at anytime can participate with us by using the Discord server. Even if you don't have the book or are not a big reader, the Discord server allows for voice chat rooms to practice, and the server has channels where you can ask questions about French. The group fits all schedules, all fluency levels, and all learning paces but is especially takes the pressure off of beginners because the books have translations in both French and English .
