What we’re about

Samba de Gafieira (also known as Gafieira) is a captivating Brazilian partner dance that evolved from samba musical rhythms. Unlike street and club forms of Brazilian samba, Samba de Gafieira developed as a ballroom dance.

The style originated from samba dancing in cabarets and gafieiras (dance halls) in districts of Rio de Janeiro, such as Botafogo, Catete, and Centro. The term gained recognition in the 1940s.

Samba de Gafieira is elegant, joyful, and still one of the most popular social dances in Brazil. It is usually danced as a pair, although solo variations are sometimes added in artistic performances.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, exploring Samba de Gafieira can be a delightful journey!
