What we’re about
NEW CLUB ALERT!
KUNGALOOSH! To all who come to this happy group: Welcome to the San Diego Society of Explorers and Adventurers! Also known as S.D.S.E.A.
The world seems to get crazier on a daily basis. Often wherever we turn our heads we're bombarded with negativity whether on social media or what news is trending on current events (even within the House of Mouse). This club strives to be a place free from all that drama with our Disney passion as the foundation for the glue to bind us.
Our hope is to gather like-minded kindred Disney spirits together on a monthly basis for in-person social outings and events. Local events will usually be in coastal San Diego. We may have an occasional movie night of some Disney classics or corny Disney Channel movies, a beach/bay BBQ, or hike at Torrey Pines, but more often than not it will be a trip to our home park: Disneyland (you don't have to be an Annual Passholder / Magic Keyholder but it helps!). We will often piggy back on larger events at the Disney Parks, some of which offer opportunities for cosplay or themed attire (Dapper Day, Oogie-Boogie Bash, Late Nite Special Events, D23 Expo, etc.), but of course jaunts to Disneyland with no specific occasion in mind will also occur. This is NOT an online or virtual group. It's a place for Disney friends to connect in-person.
Although Disneyland will be our primary park, there will be opportunities throughout the year to visit Disney World especially during the Halloween and Christmas seasons. We also are planning to shoot for one big event annually such as an international trip like Tokyo Disneyland or maybe a Disney cruise with Castaway Cay as a stop or possibly Aulani in Hawaii.
Sounds fun, huh? So leave politics, drama from current events, and all negativity at home and instead please bring your optimism, your sense of humor, and share your fervor for all things Disney. So do you wanna build a snowman or what?
This D23 holiday event was just announced! For those who have never been on the Disney Studios lot, this is a great opportunity to check it out. Instead of copying all the details I'll just include a link to the event here. Although you don't have to be a D23 member to attend, please note this is a ticketed event. These things sellout quick so if you're interested don't hesitate!
For those of you staying in San Diego checkout the boat parade on Mission Bay. For those of you who want to go all out on a Disney Holiday we're hopping on a plane Sunday in Burbank and heading straight to Walt Disney World for the following week. If interested, let us know for more details.
Happy Holidays from S.D.S.E.A. and we hope to see you there!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Walt's BirthdayDisneyland Park, Anaheim, CA
UPDATE: We're celebrating Walt's birthday this year with our east coast arm of the club in Orlando!
However, since this is so close to December Nights and Candlelight we may roll it into one of those events. We hope to see you at one of those events.
- December NightsBalboa Park, San Diego, CA
Join us in Balboa Park for December Nights 2024 to celebrate the spirit of the holiday. Most museums will be open to the public, free photos with Santa, lights displays, musical performances, attractions, delicious food, and more! This event takes place on the first Friday and Saturday of December, however, since there are some other Disney events right around this event like Walt's Birthday and Candlelight we will most likely go Friday but we'll list times for both nights. Please note parking can be insane so if you're driving it's best to arrive early (we've had luck finding spots in the Zoo's parking lot previous years).

- Christmas Card LaneChristmas Card Lane in Rancho Penasquitos, San Diego, CA
What are the holidays in San Diego without at least one visit to Christmas Card Lane in PQ?! There is SO MUCH DISNEY on display here. For those who have never been, this is one of the best decorated neighborhoods in San Diego for the holidays. It starts right after Thanksgiving (but not all homes are decorated yet) and runs through New Years Day. The unofficial opening is usually around December 8th. While you can go each night, the busiest nights will be closer to Christmas and during the weekends. However, since weekends can get crazy and our December is already packed with other Disney events, we're shooting for midweek.
Carpooling is encouraged as parking can be tricky. Look at these parking tips before heading over. For those without mobility issues, walking is encouraged as it's nice to stroll through the neighborhood and take everything in (just be aware there is a lot of walking). If you do drive through the neighborhood turn your radio to 96.5 for Christmas music.
Hours are usually 5PM - 10PM.
