What we’re about
Hello All,
It has come as a big shock to me as I just found out (when I received my bill) that Meetup.com has almost DOUBLED their charge for hosting my/our group. Over the past 3+ years, I have personally assumed all the financial burden for this group (though I have had a few people contribute in the past- THANK YOU for that!) since my goal was only to create a fun group to get together and talk tech and support each other in their "homelab" endeavors. I never had any intention to make a profit and never even felt good about asking for money to offset the hosting fees.
Unfortunately, both, due to the high cost and also due to principle (regarding the ridiculously dramatic increase) , I- and my co-organizers/regulars- have decided it is time to take the group off of Meetup and move it somewhere else.
Since I/we have yet to decide on the best alternative platform at this time, we wanted to provide those interested, with a couple ways to keep in touch with the group, communicate online for tech questions, answers and "homelab/self-hosted ideas" as well as updates for coming events.
You can find us on Discord at: https://discord.com/channels/1195187641373687908/1195187642090926082
Or email: [email protected] (email will be "live" by tomorrow)
Thank you to all who have supported our group and those who have attended our Meetups! We hope to "see" you again soon!
Eric (and Josh and Dave)
Welcome all homelab enthiusiasts! This group is for anyone- from a novice interested in building a homelab to IT professionals and others in the industry or those who just love to learn and tinker. Let's share our knowledge, experience and interests and start a homelab community!
Let's talk about computer and networking hardware, OSs, VMs, Cloud Computing, Programming, Cybersecurity, Certifications and any other related subjects and help each other advance along whatever path in the industry they are on. Even if it is just to build, configure and tinker with their own homelab.
I am just throwing the idea of this group out there to see what interest there is. Any ideas, suggestions or direction for this group would be wholeheartedly welcomed!
