Dear All,

This 7.6-mile hike starts at the Golden Canyon Trailhead and Parking Area, travels along the Gower Gulch Trail and loops back on the Golden Canyon Trail, with about 1400 feet of elevation gain. Along the way, we will see several key vistas, including Badlands, Gower Gulch, Zabriskie Point, Manly Beacon, and Red Cathedral.

START TIME: 10:00 a.m. (Meeting at 9:30 a.m.)

BRING: Sun protection, coat, at least 3 liters of water, lunch, hiking boots or rugged walking shoes, smiling face, all the usual stuff.

NOTE: MANY OF US WILL BE CAMPING FRI – SUN IN “Furnace Creek Campground” WHICH IS NEAR THE TRAILHEAD.

INSTEAD, PLEASE POST ONCE TO INDICATE IF YOU NEED A RIDE, CAN OFFER A RIDE, OR BOTH AND FROM WHAT CITY (FOR EXAMPLE: “CAN RIDE OR DRIVE, MENLO PARK”). Then contact drivers or riders directly through the person’s profile or otherwise. Thanks!

NOTE: We are considering renting couple of 15-passenger vans to share driving and expenses. We plan to start the drive around 6 a.m. on Friday from South Bay and return to South Bay late Sunday evening. Please let us know, in the comments section, if you are interested in joining our vanpool plan.
