General Information about our dances:
English Country Dance can be elegant, lively, and romantic. It's often referred to as "Jane Austen dancing" since it is common in movies such as "Pride and Prejudice." It's an ancestor of square dance but much simpler and more courtly. This type of dancing requires thought and concentration, but is more accessible for beginners than other forms of dance such as ballroom or line dancing. Our friendly, experienced dancers will guide you as you build skills and confidence. We have terrific LIVE music too!
Who dances? Any and all active people from age 10 to 80+. This is a very social dance and good exercise too for both brain and body!
No prior experience needed. If you're a beginner, arrive a few minutes early for a brief introduction. Most of the instruction is early on. Come alone or with a friend. We change partners often and we will welcome you.
Attire: Casual, cool clothes; soft-soled shoes (no boots or high heels).
