Beginners Uke Club
Details
There have been some important changes made . Please read the following notes for time, place, and structure of the future meetings.
-----------------------------------
Welcome to all new and returning members of this group.
In November we moved to a slightly different format.
We will begin our meetup at 11:30, and will have about a half hour of beginner material. We will then join with the Ukulele Friends Ohana (UFO) meetup group for the remainder of the day. (UFO will run from noon to 2:00)
The first songs played with the combined group will be easier material, and should be fun without being too challenging. The later songs will be a bit more advanced, but please stay and enjoy the music, play along, and get some coaching from the UFO members.
-------------------------------------
We will be meeting at Pilgrim Church, 2020 Chestnut Ave, Carlsbad, Ca through the end of the year. The meeting room is on the side of the church off of the courtyard.
---------------------------------------
You don't need to know anything to get started, and you will find that folks in the group are happy to help you learn and enjoy the ukulele.
It helps if you have your own ukulele, but if you don't have one, please message us here on Meetup so we can be sure to bring an extra.
Every session is a little different. You can help the group by doing a couple of things: A) If there are things you are interested in learning, or questions you have about the ukulele in general, bring them and we will see if we can help. B) If there are any relatively easy songs you would like to learn shoot us a message here on Meetup and we will see if we can come up with a way to teach it to the group.
---------------------------------------
If you have any questions, please message Scott L or me (Jim E) here on Meetup.

Beginners may find it helpful to visit Dani Joy's "Chord-by-Chord" videos at the Ukulele Magazine website. This set of videos starts with the most basic chord and builds very slowly. Here's the link: Chord-by-Chord

Finally, for those who have asked for a simplified chord chat, here it is. These chords will show up in many of the songs we play during the workshop: Chord Chart
Hope to see you soon.
