What we’re about
This is a group for anyone interested in hiking, but also interested in making sure their dogs get great exercise too, but don't have enough hours in the day to do both! Let's go hike friends and our well behaved dogs! There are lots of fun hiking great in the Santa Cruz area that accommodate dog walkers. All shapes and sizes of licensed, vaccinated, well socialized, and well behaved dogs are welcome. All skills levels of (well behaved!!) human hikers are welcome. I started this group to meet other outdoor enthusiasts, who love to be with their dogs. Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with new two and four legged friends!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Santa Cruz hikes with dogs at Pogonip Park, end of Spring StreetPogonip Park, end of Spring Street entrance, Santa Cruz, CA
Pogonip Spring Trail (meet at end of Spring Street) is an easy approx 3 mile hike, mostly level except if we take the lime kiln detour. Interesting to see for a bit of Santa Cruz history. The trail is rocky and uneven in some places. Most of the walk is shaded by trees.
Please update your RSVP before 9:00 AM on the day of the hike if your plans change. Three No-Shows and you will be removed from the group. We will hit the trails by 10:15 AM, so please be prompt or you will be walking by yourself.
Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated and non-aggressive. Please no Flexi-leads.
I don't think most of you know this, but Meetup charges a $99 twice a year to use their website. It comes out of my checking account. If you can make a small contribution to help me cover this expense, it would be appreciated. https://4142298.xyz/santa-cruz-hikes-with-dogs-meetup/ donation
Looking forward to meeting you at Pogonip. I'd be glad to hear some suggestions about new places to meet and walk with our doggos, or if you would like to host a hike on a different day or a new location, let me know! I would love to have an occasional co-host.
Thanks, Diane

HI DOG AND PEOPLE WALKERS
Lets go get some sun on our faces, breathe some fresh sea air and stretch our legs.
Walk as far as you want on the beach then turn around and go back.
DIRECTIONS!! MEET AT HIDDEN BEACH PLAYGROUND PARKING LOT. The address is 660 Cliff Drive, Aptos, CA 95003. We will walk to the beach from there together.
THE PARKING LOT IS SMALL BUT YOU CAN ALSO PARK ON SUMNER AVENUE (the street before Townsend) near the train trestle and walk to the parking lot. On Sumner Ave, after you get to a PUD development and pass both Dry Creek Roads, Sumner starts to narrow and you should find other parked cars, that is where you park. You will walk under the train trestle to Hidden Beach parking lot and you should find us there. Call me if you have a problem. 408-390-4455. Plan an extra 10 minutes to park. Looking forward to seeing everybody Saturday!
Dogs must be vaccinated, licensed and get along with other dogs or people. Please no flexi-leads.
If your plans change, please update your RSVP by 9:00 AM the morning of the walk. Three No-Shows and you will be removed from the group. We will hit the trail at 10:15 AM so if you are late, you will be walking alone.
