What we’re about
Welcome to the Santa Fe Prize-Winning Book Club!
We focus on reading books that have won major literary prizes or awards. This includes the Pulitzer Prize (all categories), the Booker Prize, the Women’s Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Edgar Award, the Hugo Award, and the Nebula Award. Please, no book solicitations.
If you are interested in reading award-winning books, reading outside of your comfort zone, and meeting a group of fun and avid readers, then this book club is for you! People should join this group if they are interested in reading (of course), socializing, and having a great book discussion.
The club started in January 2021. We generally read about six to eight books of fiction each year and the remaining books fall within the categories of non-fiction, biography, history, poetry, and drama. At the end of the year, we pick our prize-winning book amongst the books we have read for that year.
Each month the club reads and discusses the selected book usually on the first Sunday of the month. Book discussions are at a member’s home in Santa Fe and members take turns facilitating book discussions. This gives everyone a chance to become involved in the discussions and encourages a vibrant club.
The club has a monthly BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) event at a local coffeehouse in Santa Fe to talk about books people are reading and to socialize. These are casual events. There are also events scheduled throughout the year which are usually associated with books, reading, or authors. The club enjoys going to the Santa Fe Literary Festival each year in May.

Dues for club members are $1.00/month or $12.00/year which helps cover the cost of running the club on Meetup. As a potential new member, you have 30 days to evaluate the club before membership dues are due. If money is left over after the year, I will contribute to a local charity or spend the money on certain events throughout the year.
Our reading list is determined each year in the Fall timeframe. Members put forth book suggestions, a survey is then sent out to all members to vote on the books they want to read. The winners are the books that receive the highest votes.
Thanks for your interest in the club! Happy Reading!
