Slow and Gentle Mindfulness Hike in the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park
Saturday, November 23 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Difficulty level: Easy (3/4 of the hike is on a paved road) to Moderate (one gently sloping hill and uneven terrain for 1/4 of the hike). The pace is slow and gentle. Great beginner hike!
Hike Leader: Kimberly and Kate
Length is 3/4 of mile and a half, taken at a leisurely pace.
This hike involves sitting on the ground (in a sandy clearing) for a brief (5 minute) mindfulness meditation. You are welcome to bring a cushion or blanket if you are uncomfortable sitting on the group.
The Larwin Trailhead is located by the power lines at 10259 Larwin, Chatsworth, CA 91311. Look for the opening between the chain link fence and the block wall. Park on the street. DO NOT follow the online directions to the State Park because it will take you to a different entrance.
Wear long pants because the brush is thick and sticky. A light jacket or long-sleeved shirt is also recommended. Although we try to avoid poison oak, sometimes it is encountered. Wear sturdy hiking boots. A walking stick is preferred by some hikers. Bring plenty of water. A hat is also recommended.
Because this hike involves a seated meditation, this hike is not appropriate for dogs or for children under the age of 13 years.
Temperatures above 90 degrees, rain or red flag warning cancels.
