No partner is required but you must already know the basic Cuban system and calls- enchufla, vacilala, dame, dame directo, sombrero, enchufla doble. adios, un fly, etc. You can't fake it and you are having trouble with guapea and if these moves are not in your inventory, please take the Beginner Casino class.
Co-hosted by the /City of Santa Clarita- you must sign up online through the "Santa Clarita Seasons" website. The class is only $35 for the 13-week course course.
Casino is taught first in a team setting and we add 2 or 3 new moves each week and repeat some taught the previous week.
Even experienced dancers of other genres (LA Salsa, Cumbia, Bachata, etc.) still need a beginner course first in order to progress to the Intermediate level- Intermediate dancers are capable of couples dancing with ease to about 15-20 scripted moves (that can only be learned as a beginner).
Cuban salsa is called "timba" and has a unique and easy-to-follow rhythm. We also dance to "Cubaton"- a modern hybrid of reggaetón and Latin pop.
To see the uniqueness of Casino, you may wish to use YouTube. It is a relaxed street dance with so many ways to express one's self! Here are examples:
