Sarasota Spanish-English Conversation Group

This Meetup is for people who want to improve their English or Spanish in a friendly group. We try to mix Spanish and English speakers in the group, and help each other with reading, pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. Recommended for intermediate level speakers of English and Spanish.

Este Meetup es para personas que quieren mejorar su inglés o español en un grupo amigable. Tratamos mezclar español e inglés en el grupo y nos ayudamos mutuamente con leyendo, la pronunciación, el vocabulario y la fluidez. Recomendado para hablantes de nivel intermedio de inglés y español.

This class is for those who have experience in Spanish and are striving for fluency. We will cover key concepts in grammar and build vocabulary with theme based learning. You will refine your ability to speak Spanish correctly and comfortably as well as understand completely what you hear.

RSVP is required. There is a $20 fee for the class.

We meet each Saturday in the room adjacent to the Bistro Café at Ringling OLLI Museum ('Old Sarasota High School')

As a reminder, we want to be gracious guests at the Bistro, so we must insist that everyone spend a little money at the Bistro Café.

This is a class designed for people with an intermediate level of Spanish. This is not a class for beginners.

We also practice speaking using "current events" as conversation starters. (Please! This is for practicing Spanish, and not a platform for hot political topics.)

Practice your Spanish in a very social non threatening environment .
The class will be entirely in Spanish, and everyone will have the opportunity to speak.
You will improve at your own pace depending on the amount of work you put in.

You should know that we are quite social, and often get together to have fun, including in class!

This class is also a companion class to the Thursday Grammar, so previous lessons will be reinforced and practiced.

Faly is from Sevilla, Spain. She has a Permanent teaching certification from the state of Ohio and Florida. She has 28 years of teaching all levels of Spanish at high school and university. She is passionate and enthusiastic about sharing her love of Spanish. She goes to Spain often to visit her family in Sevilla.
