Scenic Walks in the Chilterns

This is a picturesque Autumn route from Studham to Markyate via Studham Common, through woods and along country tracks with many views over the hills. There's some great scenery and idyllic leafy tracks. The walk is about 6 miles and will take about 2.5 hours.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

After the walk, there's the option to stay for a drink and a chat at the Red Lion pub in Studham.

Free Parking
As well as the pub car park there's plenty of free parking on the side roads nearby.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals. These events are not for children.

This is a picturesque 6.5 mile walk to the Chess Valley and footpaths overlooking the River Chess, which will sparkle if the sun shines, providing some spectacular views. This is probably the most scenic of all the walks we do. Walking time approx. 2.5 hours.

This is a good fun monthly pub quiz at the Highwayman in Berkhamsted. It's £3.00 per person cash - coins please, as the bar doesn't have change. We have two tables of ten places in total reserved for us. We'll make two teams.

Please only sign up if you're committed to coming. If something unexpected happens and you can't make it, that's fine, but it's not the kind of event that works if people sign up and then drop out casually.

The quiz starts at 7:30 and our tables are booked from 7:15 so if you arrive any time between 7:15 and 7:30 that will be perfect.

The quiz has forty questions of general knowledge of all types plus a jackpot round with a big cash prize. There's also a 'first hand in the air' half-time question, with the first correct answer getting a free drink at the bar.
