Scenic Hike at West Los Penasquitos Park- Lopez Canyon Loop

Join us on an easy to moderate, short hike to West Los Penasquitos Park-Lopez Canyon Loop trail. The scenic view into Lopez Canyon from the ridge is inviting. We will take a break on the ridge so be prepared with a snack. Lopez Canyon has a stream and extensive sycamore trees for shade during hot days. There is much historical interest which is sure to captivate everyone and a moderate but gradual incline about half mile in length in one spot. This hike is approximately 4.5 miles with an elevation gain at just over 200 feet.

We will meet at 7:15 in the parking lot (4280 Sorrento Valley Blvd) and depart at 7:30. WQ4V+J84 San Diego, California

This hike is not recommended for beginners.

As organizers, we will do our best to give accurate descriptions of the hikes we post. Please note, this is NOT a race or fast-paced hike. Plan on up to 2 hours on the trail. If you're a beginning hiker, a hike's elevation and distance may not mean much to you. Likewise, difficulty ratings are subjective, and a hike that is "easy" to one person may be "moderate" to another. Err on the side of caution if you are unsure.

You're much better off going on a hike that's too easy for you than a hike that's too hard or too dangerous for you. As you go on more hikes with us, you'll become more familiar with our ratings and our descriptions, and you'll learn more about your own limits. Ultimately, it's up to you to keep yourself safe out there. One note, please bring more water than you think you will need. Better to carry the extra weight, than be thirsty.
