Our Evil Queen Carol Haney is inviting ALL her gaming friends to enjoy a Holiday Party on Saturday, December 14th 2013. PLEASE RSVP as soon as it opens so we can get an idea of how many are interested. Note to fur-sensitive people: 1 cat in residence.

Here's a message from the Evil Queen herself:

This will be a combined Christmas party for San Diego Boardgames Group (SDBG) as well as for the two Saturday groups - Barbara's Bunch and the Phoenix Gamers. Start time will be approximately 4 pm, with a potluck dinner at 6 or so. RSVPs with food you are bringing would be helpful in coordinating things (we don't want 29 Jello salads, folks!) Xmas-y dishes would be nice.

There will also be a gift exchange game later in the evening (around 8:00) for those who wish to participate. The rules are: Bring a wrapped gift of approximately $10. value. It doesn't have to be gaming related, but it does need to be something anyone (guy or gal, old or youngster, computer user or not, etc.) could use. This item can be wrapped once, twice, or three times! (Think box {within box [within box]}). Players are assigned a random order. When it's your turn, you can either choose a wrapped gift from under the tree, or one that someone else has already unwrapped. (Bummer if you get the starting position!) The catch is, if you unwrap something and find another box inside, you have to stop; you may not know what's in it until the game is over, or someone takes it from you. Items can change hands ("stolen" is such a harsh word!) up to three times; after that, the person who has it gets to keep it. Obviously, things can get passed around quite a lot, and the more people who play the better it is.

But wait, there's more!!. The (in)famous "Candy Cane't" game has been morphed into "Jingle Jail"!! (Rumor has it there may be handcuffs involved!) Basically the same rules as "Candy Cane't" for those who are familiar with it, but you don't have to eat your collection afterwards! It's a conversation game, and may be played all during the evening without interfering with whatever else you're doing. Rules are simple, and will be explained upon your arrival - the basic idea is that you must avoid saying a "certain" word. IF you're caught, there are dire consequences! And yep, there IS a prize - the winner gets the privilege of going last in the gift exchange - that means you get the "pick of the litter", so to speak.

Soooo, everybody mark your calendars early for the Great Gamers Gala at Evil Queen's Castle. Remember, this is an earlier-than-usual start time. RSVP's will be greatly appreciated - the sooner the better. Call Carol at 619-424-6647 - hope to see you all!

We hope this will clarify any directions you may have found on Google Maps, MapQuest, etc. The problem is that once you're in Imperial Beach, Palm Ave does a weird thing where it criss-crosses itself (at the * in the directions below) with one part turning North to become the Silver Strand Hwy and the other part continuing West as Palm Ave.

DIRECTIONS -- As if you're Driving SOUTH on INTERSTATE 5.

EXIT 5A to Palm Ave W You'll encounter several traffic lights. Drive West about a mile (1.5 miles?). DO NOT TURN AT 9TH * HERE there are 2 left "turn" lanes. You'll want to be in the leftmost lane. You're still heading West on Palm. Turn LEFT at the 7-11 store on Carolina St. Turn RIGHT at Dahlia Ave. 642 DAHLIA is the 4th house from corner on the RIGHT side.
