Meet at Negris at 7:40 am at Negris and follow Amy up the hill. Call 707-584-1129 for carpool from Petaluma. the hike starts at 8 am, but the trail head is hard to find. Amy will be at Negri's on the corner of Bohemian highway and Coleman Valley Road at 7;40 am. Negri's is at 3700 Bohemian Highway. The trail itself has no signs and parking is limited so carpool is highly recommended. if you have done this before you can meet us at the trail head which is 4.3 miles up hill on Coleman Valley Road. No GPS or internet in this area so be prepared.
Carpool from Petaluma leaves at 7 am and will be pre-arranged by calling or testing 707-584-1129.
The grade on this hike is gentle. There are hills but not really steep hills. You will be treated to ferns, streams, wildflowers and 2nd growth redwoods. The hike reminds me of Humboldt County.
If you feel the need to get away from it all and commune with nature than this is the hike for you.
After going through the forest, we will reach the top and have lunch up at the Islands in the Sky and be treated to gorgeous coastal views. We will hike back down in the open and enjoy the scenic ocean views the whole way and then head back through the woods.
No bathrooms or running water; please bring enough for 14 miles of hiking. Dress in layers as it can warm up quickly but can be quite chilly in the shade.

We will be doing part of the route in reverse order to get better views.
Driving Directions:
Willow Creek Open Space Preserve - Coleman Valley Road
Get to the town of Occidental and make a right turn at Negris, that is where you find Coleman Valley Rd and go west approximately 4.3 miles on Coleman Valley Road, *Pay Attention \* Do Not go straight on Joy Rd* (Coleman Valley Rd makes a 90 degree right hand turn at Joy Rd). Look for us at a metal gate, on the right hand side, at a pull out. More parking just up the road.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive, it often takes longer than you think. Especially this one! if you set the Odometer at 0 at the intersection of Coleman valley road by Negris you go 4.3 miles. Look for a gray Ford Fiesta parked by a gate.
I am not sure the Pin is correct so please follow the directions above.

There is no GPS or internet to guide you to the trail.

Due to the distance to drive to the hike, I am offering a carpool. The carpool will be at 7 am if you want to carpool with me text me at 707-584-1129. I can take myself plus 4 others.

This time we will explore Willow Creek open space persevere starting from a different route.
Some of the hike will be shaded and some out in the open. When we hike here we will be in a redwood forest with creeks, streams and wild life. The trees are 2nd growth, somewhere around 200 to 400 years old.
We will be treated to coastal views from up high!
