A lot of the trails are not overgrown, but there are a couple of spots where it may be somewhat overgrown so please wear long pants or bring long pants that you can change into. I just hiked this area a couple of weeks ago and a lot of the trails were good. If I decide that a trail is just way to overgrown, we can change the route if needed. Either way you will be treated to some really gorgeous scenery.
We may also view the humpback whales off the Coast. At this time of year Miller's point can be a premier whale watching opportunity.
USE THE DIRECTIONS I TYPED UP, NOT YOUR GPS!
We will hike through green and lush forests and out to Miller's point and then back another route. Even now in December Point Reyes is still green and lush -- mystical and magical!
We may find and see a garden variety of mushrooms.

This hike starts at the Five brooks trail head. To get to the trail head from 101 take Sir Francis Drake drive all the way to the town of Olema. Turn left (south) on state Hwy 1 off of Sir Francis Drake drive and go about 3 to 4 miles on hwy 1 till you get to the Five brooks trail head. make a right turn and drive up the dirt road till you get to the parking lot. From points north take the Petaluma Point Reyes Road out to Platform ridge road. Go straight on Platform Ridge Road and turn right on Sir Francis Drake drive. At the Town of Olema turn left on state hwy 1 and drive about 3 miles till you get to the Five brooks. We should be done around 2 or 2:30 pm
In the beginning we will go flat for a while and then have a major uphill and after that downhill for a while and on the way back rolling hills and then downhill.
Millers Point is a premier whale watching location during migration season and an awesome place for gorgeous views of the coast.
The hike is mostly shaded and not that steep.

For those of us who live in Sonoma or Marin County I recommend stopping at the Marin French Cheese Factory which is off of Petaluma Point Reyes Road just before Novato Blvd. I will stop there on my way back to pick up cheese for Christmas.
