The troop will accommodate the beginner to the intermediate level rider who may have not been in the saddle for many years. But don’t worry…we start by teaching the basics of riding that everyone needs to be successful The biometrics of riding a horse has great benefits. Your muscles are stretched and worked while riding and your balance is also improved. However, the most important benefit is our emotion and mental health as well. The connection you make with the horse is overwhelmingly the most satisfying part of this journey..
Our instructor Liz with lead these session with the help of our senior riders. Yep we already have a group of mature adults who encouraged us to start this program. Our oldest is in her 80s Not only do we ride, but there is a social aspect of this program also. You will make some great friends, enjoy turnout in the evening with a glass of wine and some great conversations or maybe your friendship will lead to dinners out and lunch after you lessons. You will even learn how to care for the horse. Groom and saddle and just get kisses and snuggles from these amazing animals.
Join us! Meet some of our senior riders. This will be the best thing you ever did for yourself. It is time for you. Live your dream!
The riding groups are limited to 6 This could change. Riding is not easy! It takes some strength to mount and dismount. There are also forms that the barn requires completion of. The cost per session is $75. The hanging out and grooms and horse breath are free!

Sample of A Silver Saddle Club Lesson
The goal of every lesson is to achieve rhythm and relaxation for horse and rider. Through a series of practiced strengthening exercises and postures. One example is finding a neutral pelvic position. Moving the legs forward and holding, then moving the legs to a natural relaxed place under the hips, then moving the legs back behind the hips to the rider's maximum flexion, then again back to a relaxed hanging under the riders hips. Every ride starts with the same practice of centering the physical body, followed by breathing exercises to center the mind to a relaxed state. After the riders have achieved a balanced relaxed state mentally and physically we start focusing on the horses physical and mental rhythm and relaxation exercises. One example of an exercise is to ride with as long of reins as possible and riding with just legs for guidance. This exercise proves that the horse feels safe and protected by the rider's legs and voluntarily stays in connection with the leg aids while in use. Practicing rhythm and relaxation at the walk and repeating the same exercises at the trot. Being able to keep the leg in the same location and with the same feel and functionality takes practice, strength, balance, flexibility and trust in your horse. Repeating this exercise at the start of every lesson will build a healthy body for riding and a healthy relationship between horse and rider. Higher level riders will be given the option to advance to the canter under the same model of rhythm and relaxation.
