What we’re about
Green Lake is one of the most popular destinations for urban runnings in the Seattle area. The Seattle Green Lake Running Group was created with the intent of creating a running community that supports and encourages a healthy and active lifestyle through group events and participation. Our goal is to try and have something for everyone and the more runners that attend events the better chance that there will be running buddies for all. Whether you're looking to increase your cardiovascular endurance, meet some new exercise buddies or have training partners for your next race you've come to the right place.
Group Waiver:
I know that running and participating in SGLRG events are potentially hazardous activities. I should not participate in group activities unless I am medically able and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with running and participating in SGLRG events including but not limiting to, falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather including high heat and/or humidity, the conditions of the road and traffic on the various courses and routes, and such risk being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of my application for membership, I for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Seattle Green Lake Running Group, and all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in these group activities even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the person named in this waiver. I further grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of these events and activities for any legitimate purpose.

See all- Tuesday Evening Run (TER)Green Lake Park Wading Pool, Seattle, WA
TER is a great way to add a fun, yet challenging, evening run into your running routine. Plus, we almost always get pizza afterwards! Come out weekly and you'll have a new running buddy or 3 to help support you through your training plans, whatever they may be.
For all the first time runners: Hop over to our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SGLRG/) after RSVP-ing and check out our massive presence there. You can easily find someone to connect with there for future runs! Our TER turnout is much larger than the RSVP list.
If you have a jacket or small bag you want to store during your run, you can do so at Zeeks pizza. Just stop in before the run and ask them to hold it in the back for you (consider sticking around for pizza in return for the favor).
We offer three different routes to choose from:
3 miles: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4435923976
This route actually clocks in at about 3.3 miles, but it's better than your standard lake loop because we spend the first couple miles running up and along the top of Phinney Ridge with the 5 mile group. At 60th street we head back down the east side of the ridge and follow our noses back to Zeeks for some pizza and fun!
5 miles: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4436114944
Our most popular route; we head up Phinney ridge on 80th and track south past the Woodland Park Zoo, after which we fly back down 50th and under Aurora. The trip back up to Zeeks always goes faster than you imagine it will and finishes with high-fives/fistbumps from your fellow runners for a job well done!
7 miles: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4436115106
I heard you like hills, so we've got a couple for ya. We start with a climb up Phinney ridge and then head down the west side and into Whittier Heights. We then turn down 15th to 65th, trying to conserve some energy in preparation for the aggressive, 200+ foot climb back up Phinney (bonus points for running the entire hill). Once we get back to the top, we rejoin the 5-mile route for a casual jog around Woodland Park and back to Zeeks.
Hope to see you this Tuesday!

We're re-starting WUW after a long pandemic hiatus and we're looking forward to meeting you!
Come meet us in front of Starbucks at Green Lake on Wednesday mornings at 5:30 am for a casual run around the lake or perhaps jump in for a tempo run. There are plenty of options as far as pace and number of laps that our group runs. great turnouts are what make Wednesday mornings so fun :)
For all the first time runners: check out our FB page after RSVP-ing. You can easily find someone to connect with there for future runs! Our WUW turnout is much larger than the RSVP list. Hope to see you there.
Seattle Green Lake Running Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SGLRG/)Option #1- run around the lake- once, twice, or more if you really feel like it.
Option #2- run the 6-mile off-lake route. This week we are doing the Maple Leaf one https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5491342426?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0eGuFn7onn9PxUgCLhS8wXkxA6iUHU1S_wZvgtNfNHlCQ3DxuVuuKNp48_aem_smJmnOqXpi88UoQif3b6fw
Option #3- run a tempo run (either around the lake, during the 6-miler off-lake, or the seasonal Hanson's marathon training tempo routes).
We recommend all runners either be 2 weeks past their final vaccine shot or wear a mask and practice physical distancing when interacting with others. Please be considerate of your fellow runners' personal comfort level and also check out https://safety.rungreenlake.com for additional safety protocol information.
