NEW GROUP: Let's build this together!
Welcome to the Seattle Queer Singer-Songwriters meetup group!
We hope to cultivate a space where queer musicians of all levels of skill and experience can build community, learn from each other, and express ourselves through sharing our music.
This group is for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community (including those questioning) who has an interest in writing, sharing, and performing songs. Beginners and seasoned performers all welcome!
As this is a new group, we'd love your input on what kinds of activities would be most exciting for you.
We expect that activities will fall broadly within the following four categories:
- SONG SHARES: In person and/or virtual meet-ups to share newly written songs with one other, or get feedback and encouragement on works in progress. We can share monthly/weekly songwriting prompts to help inspire new work.
- PERFORMANCE: Attend open mics together and cheer each other on; share and support each other's live performances. If there's interest, we can work on setting up our own queer open mic space to showcase our work!
- SKILL SHARE/MENTORSHIP: Creating spaces for us to connect, collaborate and learn together. Depending on interest, we can create workshops and/or learning groups on song-craft, recording/mixing/production, live performance, promotion/business of music, singing, gender affirming voice training, and more.
- COMMUNITY BUILDING: Getting to know each other and connecting outside of sharing our own work. Building a stronger and more connected queer musical community in Seattle.

We're excited to meet anyone making music or using song and lyrics as a form of self expression, wherever you are on your song-writing and your queer journey. Our songs deserve to be heard, and we're here to build each other up and create the confidence and community that helps our art shine!
