UPDATE 2023/10/07

The Seattle Shogi Meetup is back in person!

Join us at the historic Seattle Go Center:
SE Corner of the Brick Building
6611 Dayton Ave N · Seattle, WA
Saturdays 1-6pm!

Come join us for another night of learning and playing Shogi! These events are tailored towards players of all levels, beginners are highly encouraged to join our welcoming atmosphere. For those new to the game, Shogi (将棋 shōgi) (/ˈʃoʊɡiː/, [ɕo̞ːŋi]), also known as Japanese chess or the Game of Generals, is a two-player strategy board game. Shōgi means general's (shō 将) board game (gi 棋). Shogi was the earliest chess variant to allow captured pieces to be returned to the board by the capturing player.

Our goal with these events is to provide beginners a friendly environment to learn the game and find other beginners, and hopefully provide seasoned players a venue to play find challenging opponents.

All Shogi equipment is provided onsite. We have beginners sets with arrows on them to show piece movements as well as the fancy hand crafted sets imported from Japan.
