Fools Day Peak (Winter Conditioning)
Details
I have done Fools Day Peak several times, including when avalanche forecast was 'considerable'. It does not mean avy proof but relatively safe. I chose it as my conditioning hike location for various reasons - no crowds, long slog on the Forest Service road to warm up, steep snow for strength and cardio, under 2 hours drive, and most importantly I could solo when I had no one. Initially, you will be placed on the waitlist. Remember to answer the questions prompted at sign-in.
If there is not enough enough by then, we will choose another suitable location.
Meeting Location:
I am flexible if participants are proven to be reliable. If I don't have confidence about participants' reliability, I prefer to meet at Cabin Creek SnoPark. In that way, I will waste no time.
Drivers will need Snopark Permit.
Recommended Gear:
Snowshoes, microspikes (optional), food and water, headlamp, first aid, warm and waterproof layers.
Skills and Ability:
Advanced beginners (some winter hiking experience, know how to play with gear).
