The hike is just less than 4 miles with about 300 feet of elevation.
The Cliffrose and Bill Ensign Trails lead to a wonderful overlook of the Verde River and Cottonwood. While most of the trees are past their Fall best, there's still some color left. In addition, there are some historical ruins just off this trail.
I would rate this hike as "MODERATE". Most of the trail is pretty flat, but there are some steep inclines and loose rock. There is almost no shade, so be prepared with a wide-brimmed hat and layers of clothing. It will probably be in the 60's on the return trip. I hiked it this morning (Tuesday) and was wishing I had on shorts on the return portion.
NOTE: There are 2 lots for the Cliffrose Trails. We will be parking at the first lot on Mingus Road, about 1/4 mile from AZ89A. USE THE MAP.
No parking passes needed. No bathrooms at the trail head.
