Giving Thanks with Chai: Twin Buttes/Broken Arrow Loop

Details

This hike has become one of my FAVORITES!

Want lots of red rock laying space? Check. Want some foresty green canopy that feels like a hug? Check. Want 360 degree views the whole hike? Check. Less crowded and noisy than broken arrow proper? Check.

What we will do:

  1. At roughly the midway point of the trail we will sit on a flat mesa (see event picture), chat, and sip chai. I’m bringing the chai. It’s homemade with whole milk with a little bit of brown sugar.
  2. Chicken point is also included in this roughly 2 mile loop hike

What to bring:

  1. A mug for chai
  2. your own drink (if you want to)
  3. bring something to share with others (cookies, chips, etc)

Directions:

  • We will meet in the Broken Arrow parking lot
  • I highly suggest you use alltrails and download the map beforehand. But it's not required because I have the app
  • my car is a toyota rav4 suv and I’ll be with my brown brindle dog

THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Please understand that while this is a hiking group, this is also a group about connecting with other people and the land. Show courtesy to everyone - include them in your conversation. Stop a little and take it all in.
  2. Please turn on notifications for this meetup group. Spots fill up within minutes sometimes so you want to be notified when a new meetup is announced. Groups are maxed at 10.
  3. If you cancel within 48 hours (unless you have an emergency) or you’re a no show, you will be removed from the group immediately. Waitlists are long for meetups and groups are small. These hikes are early and people on the waitlist need time to plan, hence the 48 hour window. Please be considerate of other people who can commit and really want to come.
  4. We always leave for the hike exactly at the start of the meetup. You can catch up with us along the way if you’re running late.
  5. Set expectations. Remember that organizers are volunteers who are paying $200 every 6 months out of their pocket for this group. Organizers are not professional guides. They're not responsible for any attendee’s safety or experience. Any disrespectful behavior to an organizer or any member of the group will get you reported immediately and banned permanently.
  6. Well behaved dogs are always welcome. They must NOT be excessively vocal or be aggressive with other dogs. Please be sure to bring everything they need.
