What we’re about
Welcome to the Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) Meetup group! We are a community of environmentally conscious individuals united by our passion for protecting the flora, fauna, land, air, and water of the Sacramento River Watershed through advocacy and education.
Join us to connect with like-minded individuals who share interests in environmental issues in our community. Together, we will learn, hike, collaborate, and take action toward creating a more sustainable world for our families, our children, and future generations!
Be sure to fill out a waiver (each person will need to fill this out every calendar year) before you head out on a trip with us! https://www.ecoshasta.org/events/trip-event-waiver/

NEW YEAR’S DAY HIKE
January 1, 2025, 9:30 amThis is our traditional, annual SEA/California Native Plant Society New Year’s Day hike up the Westside trail hike every year since 2008 although we may have canceled one year during the peak of the Covid outbreak.
This a four-mile out and back hike to “Top of the World” with a 600-foot elevation gain through areas burned by the Carr Fire of which the shrubs have been recovering rapidly. Little will be in bloom, but we will identify the common trees and shrubs as we make our way up the trail. This is not a difficult trail and is suitable for most people that have decent balance and can walk four miles. We usually have 15 to 25 people on this hike and usually have a toast of wine at the top and often one or two people will bring cookies to share.
Limited to 25 people. You must reserve a space here on our Meetup website and sign a waiver to attend HERE. Directions are at Meetup.com webpage. You must also sign our waiver to attend. For more information contact [email protected].For more information contact walk leader David Ledger at [email protected]. If this event is cancelled or changed, you will be notified here. We will meet at the trailhead at the west end of Kilkee Drive at 9:30 am.
