See all- Backpacking Ramsey Draft (GWNF)Needs location
This is an easier trip than I normally do, but will be fun to dial in the gear for this fall's backpacking. Total 18.2 miles and only 2800ft elevation - over 2 days.
There is a day use picnic area near the parking lot, open 6A-10P, so thinking of bbq'ing Fri evening and then walking in the trail a short distance to hang my hammock. In the morning, we can return to picnic area for breakfast and to repack. This will allow some folks options on when to arrive.
My itinerary for this trip will be to use the HikingUpward description, it is the Shenandoah Mountain Hike. I will put it into GaiaGPS which I like and share that as well.
Any questions, just ask!

- Backpack North Fork Mountain Trail (Seneca Rocks Area)Needs location
Backpack the North Fork Mountain Trail in WV near Seneca Rocks. Essentially, a 25 miles walk with relentless views. The elevation gain is only 2,600ft, so this doesn't look like a very difficult trip.
This trip will require car shuttling so we need to make sure we have enough drivers and can also fit into a smaller set of vehicles. The plan will be to meet up in Strasburg (81 & 66), then carpool to the Northern terminus, ditch a car, drop water at the halfway point as it is known to be dry, then drive to the Southern terminus.
Friday night we can stay at a local inn and enjoy a fun dinner & cheap room or find a local campground -- this allows for a full Saturday on the trial.
Ideally, we will have 4 or 8 people. This allows 2 people per car on the drive out and we can combine into 1 or 2 cars for the shuttling.
As we will be hiking along a ridge all weekend, weather will be important. In the event of a bad weather forecast, we can decide whether to cancel or come up with a backup plan that doesn't include hiking along a ridge.
Please double-check your calendar before selecting "Going". If people cancel at the last minute, it will put a strain on the rest of us as we need to make sure we have enough drivers and someone doesn't get stuck driving out alone. Once we hit 4 people, we will be "full" until we get to "8". The order in which people sign up will determine any waitlist. Please read my "Standard Trip Warnings & Requirements". LINK HERE.
