Lost Age of Chivalry Campaign

We're playing a heavily modified version of classic D&D in a world of my own creation. It's a world which exists at the intersection of Tolkien's Middle-Earth, Howard's Hyborian Age, Arthur's Camelot, and medieval history. Here you'll find the exquisite light and beauty of Tolkien's Valar, and the hideous darkness and evil of Lovecraft's Old Ones. It's a place of chivalry, honor, elven-song under the stars, dwarven hammers ringing under the mountains, and the homeliness of a hobbit's hospitality. But it's also a place in which "There are older, and fouler, things than orcs in the deep places of the world," and "Far, far below the deepest delvings of the dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not, for they are older than he." And those who would fight the darkness to preserve the light may just have to go down there in search of them.

Story and character (in the dramatic and moral senses) are most important. PCs will face dilemmas and tests of the kind found in Arthurian stories and fairy tales, as well as the more conventional RPG ones such as monsters, traps, and puzzles.

We've got a great game going (apologies for the alliteration) with five regular party members, and there's room for one or two more. In particular, the party could use a magus or druid.

All are completely welcome, including those who are new to D&D or RPGs. We are using a modified ruleset, customized to suit the setting, so if you are looking to learn D&D as it is published and as everyone else is playing it, this probably won't be the game you want.
