Ship of the Dead WIGHT KRAKEN Holiday Party & RPG Night

Details

Ho, ho, ho and a bottle of rum (and eggnog)!
It's the second annual Ship of the Dead Holiday party!

SCHEDULE
3-6pm RPG Block 1
6-7pm WIGHT KRAKEN Holiday Party & Gift Exchange
7-11pm RPG Block 2

HOLIDAY PARTY
Everyone is invited to bring cookies & treats. Unfortunately, the store does not have a license for alcohol.

WIGHT KRAKEN GIFT EXCHANGE
It's like White Elephant (or Yankee Swap) but Ship of the Dead-themed!

  • Bring a wrapped RPG book or accessory worth $30 or more. While you could bring a RPG book you don't want, we'd prefer you bring something you really want others to have, like a new copy of your favorite RPG or a gem from your collection! No gift cards or "joke" gifts.
  • At 6pm, we will throw the gifts in a pile, all roll for initiative (d20, ties broken by age, oldest going first), and get in a circle in that order.
  • The first player picks and opens a gift.
  • The following players can choose to either pick an unwrapped gift from the pool or steal a previous player’s gift. Anyone who gets their gift stolen in this way can do the same – choose a new gift or steal from someone else.
  • Gifts can only be stolen once a turn, and after a gift has been stolen 3 times it is locked with its current owner.
  • After all players have had a turn, the first player gets a chance to swap their gift with any other opened gift, including "locked gifts". The game is now over, but post-game trading and battering is encouraged!

If you forget to bring a gift, I will bring wrapping paper so you can buy something in the store and wrap it.

WHAT IS OSR/NuSR?
OSR stands for Old School Renaissance (or sometimes Revival). Check out this video from Questing Beast. NuSR is a term often applied to games like Mörk Borg/Pirate Borg, Mothership, Knave, Cairn, and other games that have a new school design aesthetic, and are typically rules-light and focus on "rulings over rules", but aren't exactly D&D clones. Many of Free League Publishing's games aren't technically OSR games as they aren't often based on old school D&D, but the high quality design and alternate game style game have made fans out of many of us.

ABOUT LIMITHRON
I'm Luke Stratton, and I made Pirate Borg, a hack of Mörk Borg. It's forthcoming from Free League Publishing, and the game has already shipped to Kickstarter backers and people that preordered.

I started this group to meet local OSR-style players and get some games going. I often host playtest games for my next book, The Dark Caribbean.
