A great place for traditional ales, it's a very relaxed pub, if you're ever on your own you'll probably get chatting to someone in here immediately as it attracts a very mixed clientele.

If you go outside into the back garden you'll notice an old timber framed building to the rear, the timber remnants of a 14th-century hall house including a screened passage. This provided protection from draughts. It's worth a look.
